This Sunday we’ll be celebrating National Farmer’s Market week – we are proud to have such a tremendous representation of regional farmers at our producer-only market here in Chattanooga! The dollar amount of local economic impact consumers have made on Chattanooga’s area food economies (as measured by direct spending at The Chattanooga Market each week) is now over $225,000 this season! This running total includes all purchases made with local farms, bakeries, canneries and other local, independent and home-grown food providers – it is a true snapshot of the community’s willingness to support local business, local agriculture and sustainable food sources.
As part of this celebration, this week we’ll show you a glimpse of the rural heritage that has helped build the agriculture in our community. There will be antique farming equipment on site to show you just how we got here and how far we’ve come.
