At the Chattanooga Market Plaza Party – Thursday Market & Music Series (Miller Plaza)
Hailing from Dallas, TX, the four piece country-rock outfit Somebody’s Darling came up in a part of the nation where southern meets western and urban meets rural, so it’s no surprise how effortlessly this group of twenty-somethings blends rock energy with country sensibilities.
Their tunes sound just as good alongside Ryan Adams and The Band as they do Cross Canadian Ragweed and Chris Knight. Since the formation of the band in August ’07, Amber Farris’s vocals and songwriting chops have shown themselves to be especially outstanding. Backed by a solid band including David Ponder on lead guitar, Nate Wedan on drums, and Michael Talley on the bass, the group has been garnering the attention of fans, venues, and press alike.
The band’s affecting tunes and powerful live performances have already earned them slots alongside national acts such as Ray Wylie Hubbard, Stoney LaRue, Corb Lund, Walt Wilkins, Lucero, Sam Roberts Band, and The Glossary.
And this is just the beginning.
In October ’08 the group competed in and won local Dallas radio station 95.3 The Range’s “Shiner 2008 Rising Star Competition.” A judges’ panel made up of North Texas musicians, club owners, and DJs were so impressed with the group that they sent them to Nashville, TN to record their debut record for Shiner Records.
After completing twelve songs with acclaimed producer Dan Baird (of Georgia Satellites fame), the band is preparing for a summer ’09 release and tour. This story hasn’t even begun for this band.
