As the region’s largest producer-only market, representing approximately 3,400 acres of regional farms and dozens of local food manufacturers, The Chattanooga Market has been a long-term advocate for sustainable food in the river city.

So it’s with great satisfaction that we are ready to unveil The Chattanooga Market SAFE Program – Support Area Food Economies.  For the price of a dinner out, you can get an abundance of fresh, healthy, locally-grown and hand-crafted foods all week while both stabilizing and promoting the local economy.  And by subscribing to The SAFE Program, you are showing your support for both local farms and the Chattanooga Market. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Program Updates

As the 2009 season progresses, we will provide periodic updates on our website as to the local economic impact consumers have made on Chattanooga’s Area Food Economies as measured by direct spending at The Chattanooga Market each week.  This running total includes all purchases made with local farms, bakeries, canneries and other local, independent and home-grown food providers – it is a true snapshot of the community’s willingness to support local business, local agriculture and sustainable food sources.

Categories included:

• all local farms
• breads, pastas, cakes & other baked goods
  
• beef, pork, chicken & sausage providers
• farm fresh eggs
• dairy & cheeses
  
• herbs, plants, flowers & other agriculture
• jellies, salsas, condiments & pickles

All products are produced in Chattanooga and the surrounding regions; all sellers at The Chattanooga Market must be directly involved in the production, harvest, preparation and creation of the items sold — we are a 100% producer-only market.  Your local investment in your daily food stays local – and helps to create other local jobs, stronger relationships and a sustainable, effective and vibrant community.

Membership

The SAFE Program is designed to be flexible and can be customized to fit your specific needs.

First, choose the program duration & amount that best fits the needs of your family:

• 10 weeks: $350
• 15 weeks: $525
• 20 weeks: $700
• 25 weeks: $875

Second, decide between the We Pick It or the You Pick It option.

• We Pick It: Chattanooga Market staff will shop premarket hours to select a wide variety of the freshest produce and local food products for you to carry away; Sunday curbside quick-pickup is available.
• You Pick It: You browse, select and enjoy the freshest products available at the market each week based on your current needs and culinary interests.

All SAFE members enjoy benefits and flexibility only possible at The Chattanooga Market:

• Need to skip a week?  No problem: both You Pick It and We Pick It vouchers are good for the entire season
• Participate in members-only product tastings & special events
• Receive Chattanooga Market materials, including a reusable cloth shopping bag
