About the Author
Derek lived in Chattanooga with his family until 9/11. The day after he joined the Army. Derek proudly served in the United States Army and did two tours of duty in Iraq. His true talent is writing and he resisted every attempt of encouragement from his eight grade teacher at Ooltewah Middle School, Ms. Jimmie Ovington.
Midnight Train to Memphis mentions many locations that Tennesseans will be familiar as he spins his tale of adventure. But Derek has another story to tell in his book. After serving in Iraq and returning physically disabled, he has learned that family and true friends are always there for you when you need them, regardless of the situation.
