Sunday, June 6th – Latin Day (La Feria)

La Paz will be celebrating the Latin Culture under the pavilion this Sunday, June 6th, from 11am-4pm. Complete with Latin food and music, this annual event promises to bring family fun for all.  Live music with Carlos Colon, Tropical Swing and DJ K7.  Local dance groups will perform dances native to various Hispanic countries.  Also, Hispanic influenced arts, crafts, jewelry and even tamales will be available for sale!

About our spotlight “booth for a cause” – La Paz meets its mission, first by attending to any immediate humanitarian needs a person or family may have, such as food, clothing or shelter. But the bulk of the organization’s work is in linking Hispanics to the resources that are available in Chattanooga and in linking those resources and agencies to Hispanics. La Paz attempts to educate Hispanics about American institutions, while at the same time attempting to educate non-Latino Americans about life as an immigrant, addressing the prejudices that may exist in one group about the other.

On the other end of the First Tennessee Pavilion our growers have informed us that PEACHES have arrived. It has been a very good season for peaches and they will be fresh and ripe. The warming temperature are shortening the strawberry season so get yours this weekend. Our agricultural vendors are starting to really have a great assortment of garden fresh produce available.
